o Use personas to aid in understanding and segmenting stakeholder groups.
o Don't Bury the Lead. Resist the urge to provide all the context first. BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front). Start with a synopsis. Value people's time and attention, and you'll start to cut through the noise.
o Transparency and real-time communication are paramount to building trust.
o Storytelling resonates across cultures and helps build understanding of a vision. Put high performing informal communication in the mix to reinforce key messages (direct to camera videos, social media and blogs).
o Communication isn't a one-way street, nor should it be a traffic jam. Meet people where they are and leverage existing forums as feedback loops rather than adding "noise" with new communication channels.
o Acknowledging current state challenges and small wins helps people to embrace a challenge.
